Capel Vale is one of the larger family-owned producers in Western Australia and amongst the first to be established with vines planted in 1974 by Sydney radiologist Dr Peter Pratten and his wife Elizabeth. The initial winery was built on the Stirling Estate in Capel in 1979, the site was originally a stone fruit orchard and its rich red alluvial loam soils over limestone made it a perfect viticultural site.
Australia's most popular grape varietal, Shiraz is full-bodied with high alcohol, and vibrant berry and plum on both the nose and palate. Australia's hot summers and cooler winters impart complexity and structure that collects well and is a worldwide favourite.
Shiraz is described as robust and spicy with a slightly sweet finish. You will also enjoy a velvety and slightly syrupy mouthfeel when enjoying this varietal.
