Old Forester Whiskey Bourbon 750ml
An American oldie with an interesting history. It was the first to be sold in America in sealed glass bottles, to avoid any unsavory folks tampering with their carefully-considered recipe. It was first seen on shelves back in 1870, and the rye-rich bourbon continues to be enjoyed today. Interestingly, during Prohibition (1920 to 1933), Old Forester was one of only ten brands authorized for lawful production for sale by doctor's prescription. It may not be considered medicine today, but it doesn’t hurt to have dose or two of Old Forester.
Alc / vol: 43%
Proof: 86°
Tasting Notes
Top notes of orange blossom and cedar. Soon develops the classic rye bread warmth and a lingering waft of buttered pancakes.
Starts quite sweet with caramel and maple syrup, though swiftly develops intense oak-y elements and hints of pine resin. Sweetness returns slightly on the mid-palate.
Juicy orange and spicy oak continue on the finish.
